The Belmond-Klemme boys track team placed second at Garner April 27 after scoring first place in five events. This was the first time in nearly two weeks that the boys competed in a meet.
Tate Sander won two individual events – the 100 meter dash in 11.01, and the 200 meter dash in 22.60.
Sander anchored the 4x200 meter relay team that also grabbed gold. The junior was joined by Clayton Pletsch, Carson Lane and Kaleb Carlson in running a 1:35.23.
Pletsch, Lane and Carlson were joined by Issac Swenson in snagging first place in the 4x400 meter relay. The foursome had a time of 3:45.41.
Pletsch, Lane, Sander and Swenson teamed up for the first-place time of 1:40.89 in the sprint medley relay.
Swenson took second place in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:09.02.
Carlson also picked up a silver medal in the 400 meter hurdles. The senior posted a time of 1:01.36.
The quartet of Swenson, Carlson, Pletsch and Bradan Gabrielson took third in the distance medley with a time of 4:01.61.
Gavin O’Conner also took home a bronze with his leap in the long jump of 17’11”. That was a season-best effort for the sophomore.
Caydon Christensen also had a season-best throw in the shot put at 39’9.5”. He placed fourth in the event. Teammate Alex Bartz placed fifth in the same event with a toss of 39’3.75”.
Christensen was fifth in the discus with a throw of 117’7”. Bartz placed sixth with a 117’3”.
Gabrielson rounded out the field event scoring for the Broncos with a fifth place finish in the high jump. He cleared 5’4” to claim fifth place.
The sophomore also placed fifth in the 1600 meter run. He ran a season-best 5:18.92 despite windy conditions.
O’Conner was eighth in the 400 meter dash with a 1:01.06.
