The Belmond-Klemme girls travelled to Britt Feb. 18 for the second round of regional basketball. The Broncos had their work cut out for them, as top-ranked West Hancock came ready to play.

The Eagles went up 10-0 quickly. A full court press by the Eagles and turnovers on the Bronco side, made it difficult to get to the basket. Ashlynn Willms was the first to score, as B-K trailed 21-2. The score was 32-3 at the end of the first.

In the second quarter, Haley Beminio added two quick points. A backdoor cut by Madi Barrus added another two points. Jennah Meyer came down with two rebounds, including passing the ball to Barrus who put in her second basket. As the first half came to an end, the Eagles held a commanding 50-9 lead.

In the second half, Willms and Beminio had a nice second half, adding back-to-back baskets. Addison McMurray came up with a big three-pointer and a two-point basket as the third quarter came to an end. The Broncos trailed 67-16.

Meyer had a good fourth quarter with a rebound and put back for another two points. A steal by Annika Nelson and a three-pointer was the last score for B-K. The Broncos ended the season with a 75-31 loss.

The Broncos finished 9-14 overall, and 9-6 in conference play.
