  Belmond-Klemme headed to Britt Oct. 1 to play West Hancock in the Top of Iowa Conference.

  Haley Beminio started the match with a big block. Good serving by Maddison Dougherty pushed the Broncos to a 2-1 lead. WH took over the early lead, 5-3, before Allie Barrus had a kill to side out. Kenedie Gabrielson served 3-3 to bring B-K back within one point, 7-6. The Broncos struggled with tough serving on the Eagles’ side, as WH stretched the lead to 12-8. B-K was determined and had outstanding serving by Barrus and Gabrielson, who each had aces, to push the score to 21-19 in favor of the Eagles. But the Broncos were unable to hold on, as the Eagles claimed the first set 25-20.

  In the second set, Addison McMurray added a big first point, but WH answered back taking the lead 11-6. Beminio added two kills to help B-K come within reach. Allie Barrus went 2-2 serving and Madi Barrus added two kills as the Broncos pulled within three points, 18-15. The Eagles dominated before the Broncos went on a big run to make the score WH 24 B-K 23. Thanks to an unlucky call, the Broncos took the tough loss, 25-23.

  B-K refused to let the Eagles send them home early in the third set. Dougherty served 3-3, putting B-K ahead 3-2. The match went back and forth before Jennah Meyer added a kill, siding the ball out. Madi Barrus followed the trend of scoring with an ace, along with a big block from Gabrielson as B-K pulled ahead 11-6. The Eagles came back to almost take the lead, 11-10. Dougherty and Madi Barrus each had two digs to regain control of the ball. Outstanding serving by Dougherty, 3-3, gave the Broncos the boost they needed, 23-20. Meyer and Allie Barrus each had a kill to end the match, as B-K took the third set 25-23.

  The fourth set was just as exciting as Madi Barrus started the match serving 3-3, before the Eagles regained the lead 4-3. Struggles on serve reception gave the Broncos trouble as the Eagles took over 10-5. Madi and Allie Barrus each had kills to bring B-K back within two, 17-15. The Eagles made the Broncos work for every point, closing out the night with a victory, 25-20.
