  The Belmond-Klemme volleyball team played its last regular conference game Oct. 7 against North Union.

  The Broncos jumped to a 2-0 lead after an ace serve by Allie Barrus, but quickly fell behind 10-5. Ashlynn Willms got the Broncos back in the game with an ace serve, followed by a Barrus kill from the left side to make the score 17-10. The Warriors capitalized on Bronco errors and only allowed one more point as they took set, 25-11.

  Back-to-back kills by Barrus in the second set gave the Broncos a 3-1 advantage. B-K continued to play tough defense with a great dig by Bailee Steenblock. The winning streak continued with a kill by Jennah Meyer, as well as Quinn Gabrielson serving 3-3, and the Broncos took their largest lead, 7-3. The Warriors made a run of their own, taking over the lead 9-8. B-K played a more competitive match with three more kills by Meyer and another by Barrus. But NU won the second set, 25-15.

  The Broncos played their best in the third set of the night. Back-to-back kills by Barrus and Meyer gave B-K a fighting chance, trailing 8-4. Midway thought the set, Adasyn Lamb’s block got the Bronco crowd on their feet, and B-K slowly inched toward the Warrior lead. London Young delivered an ace serve to make the score 16-10. Barrus and Meyer each added kills to pull the Broncos within five, 19-14. With an ace serve by Gabrielson, the Broncos looked to be making a run for the victory, but came up short 25-18.
