It looked like Belmond-Klemme had a chance to keep its playoff hopes alive against West Hancock early in the Oct. 25 game. The Broncos held the Eagles scoreless for the first nine minutes of the game. But once WH started scoring, there was nothing the Broncos could do in the 55-7 loss.
The Broncos recovered a muffed punt early in the game, but were not able to punch the ball over the goal line. The teams traded possessions until the Eagles scored with 2:40 left in the first quarter, and then again 43 seconds left in the first. The top-ranked team in Class A led 15-0.
An intercepted pass led the next Eagle score, and by halftime, the Broncos trailed 42-0.
B-K finally scored with less than four minutes left in the game. The Broncos took over on downs on their own 10-yard line. A 42-yard pass from Jordan Meyer to Kaleb Carlson was the highlight of the drive.
