The Belmond-Klemme volleyball team traveled to Britt to play the Eagles Sept. 28.
The Broncos started with the first points thanks to a Quinn Gabrielson kill. Emma Carlson followed up with back-to-back aces to give the visitors a 3-0 lead. Strong hitting continued as Jennah Meyer added her first kill of the night, followed by another ace serve by Aubrey Eckhoff to extend the lead. The Eagles battled back within one point, 7-6, and eventually tied the game at 10 and then again at 12. Meyer had three more kills midway through the set to put the Broncos ahead 16-15. WH came back to tie the game at 19 before the Bronco servers would help take the lead back. Aces by Adasyn Lamb and London Young gave B-K the lead, 24-21. Outside hitter Gabrielson finished off the win with a kill.
The Broncos jumped to a 5-1 lead in the second set with good setting by Young. Both Meyer and Gabrielson had kills early before the Eagles took the lead, 12-11. The Broncos battled back with tough serving and defense to take the lead again, 14-13. WH tied the game at 16 and 18 before Lamb’s kill gave the Broncos the momentum. Defensive specialist Ashlynn Willms finished off the set with back-to-back aces as B-K won, 25-19.
Gabrielson started the third set with back-to-back aces to give the lead to B-K. With the Broncos winning 6-1, the Eagles found their way back into the game and tied the score 7-7. WH was not going to let the Broncos win easily, tying the game three more times. B-K used its experienced players, going back to Meyer late in the set. Meyer had a kill and back-to-back blocks to take the win, 25-14.
