The Belmond-Klemme girls basketball team was not able to get back on the winning track after the holiday break.

  The second half of the season started on the road Jan. 3 in Humboldt. The girls faced a steady offense that led 23-18 at halftime. The Wildcats continued scoring with 21 points in the third period while holding the Broncos to only seven. B-K finally outscored the home team 11-7 in the final quarter.

  The Broncos lost 61-36.

  The girls were then tested by West Hancock in a road game Jan. 4. The Eagles were second in the Top of Iowa - West with a 4-1 record.

  The conference battle was tied at the break, 26-26. But the Eagles broke open the game scoring another 26 points while holding B-K to only 11.

  The girls lost 52-37.

  The girls have a 5-6 record (3-5 in the conference) and are sixth in the TIC-West.
