  The girls outdoor track season opened March 28 at the Central Springs Relays on a windy, chilly night. The meet had been moved up one day to avoid expected inclement weather.

  Madison Barrus came home with two silver medals. The sophomore placed second in the 200 meter dash with a 30.78, and second in the long jump with a personal record of 15’2.25”.

  The Broncos also placed second in two relay events.

  The 4x400 meter team of Madison Roberts, Charlee Azeltine, Kenedie Gabrielson and Jazmyn Gomez were runners-up with a time of 4:58.47.

  The 4x800 meter foursome of Roberts, Azeltine, Gabrielson and Abby Bates won silver with a time of 11:50.08.

  Two individuals had third place showings: Maddie Dougherty in the 400 meter run with a 1:13.98; and Molly Hartwig in the 400 meter hurdles with a 1:20.85.

  The 4x100 meter relay team of Addie Buseman, Gomez, Addison McMurray and Barrus won bronze with a 57.62.

  Four Broncos scored team points with fourth place finishes: Gomez in the 100 meter dash with a 14.62; Bates in the 1500 meter run with a 6:15.66; Azeltine in the long jump with a leap of 14’7”; and Haley Beminio in the discus with a throw of 87’.

  Fifth place individual finishes were posted by McMurray in the 200 meter dash with 31.54, Valerie Torres in the 1500 meter run with 6:55.05, and Gabrielson in the high jump by clearing 4’4”.

  Three relay teams finished in fifth place.

  The 4x200 meter quartet of Hartwig, Azeltine, Bates and Gabrielson ran a 2:04.98.

  The sprint medley relay team of Hartwig, Maddie Dougherty, Gomez and Keagan Barkema ran a 2:11.08.

  The distance medley relay foursome of Roberts, McMurray, Barrus and Torres ran a 5:24.99.

  The final team points were put on the board by Barkema with a sixth place finish in the 800 meter run with a 3:04.42, and McMurray with a sixth in the high jump with a 4’4” jump.

  Other events in which the Broncos competed included:

  100 meter dash - Buseman, 15.08, 7th;

  4x100 meter relay - Maria Vera, Lexy Lilly, Sheridan Fox, and Beminio, 1:06.91, 11th;

  4x200 meter relay - Beminio, Vera, Lilly, and Serenity Ricke, 2:26.43, 13th;

  100 meter hurdles - Buseman, 20.89, 11th;

  Discus - Buseman, 72’6”, 9th.
