The three-game winning streak for the Belmond-Klemme girls came to an end Dec. 14 against North Union.

The girls won the tip-off, but struggled with ball handling for most of the first half. Allison Barrus scored the first Bronco points midway through the first period, and the girls trailed 16-2 after the first eight minutes.

The Warriors continued their aggressive defense, but the Broncos were able to stage a comeback. Six points by Adasyn Lamb helped jumpstart the B-K offense, and the Broncos trailed by only seven points at halftime.

Unfortunately, that was as close as the score would be for the rest of the game. NU led 37-24 at the end of the third quarter.

A three-point basket by Allison Barrus led off the Bronco scoring in the final period. But B-K could not close the gap, and lost 44-33.

The girls got back on the winning track at county rival Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Dec. 16.

The Broncos overwhelmed the Cowgirls from the get-go, leading 13-6 at the end of the first quarter. B-K kept on scoring in the second period, while the defense held CGD to another six points. The Broncos led 29-12 at the break.

The Cowgirls were able to outscore the visitors in the third quarter, but the Broncos still controlled the game.

Both teams scored 12 points in the final quarter, but the Broncos prevailed 51-38.

The Broncos chalked up another road win at Buffalo Center Dec. 17. The defense dominated NI, holding the team to only 11 points.

B-K jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the first quarter, and were up 17-5 at halftime.

The Broncos really started scoring in the second half and won 49-11.
