The Belmond-Klemme girls travelled to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Jan. 22 in the only game of the week.

Addison McMurray started the Broncos off with a three-pointer to tie the game. But GHV went on a ten-point run to overtake the visitors. A tough defense and fast-moving offense gave the Broncos trouble early. Ashlynn Willms made all four points in two trips to the free throw line. B-K played solid defense as Jennah Meyer and Madison Barrus had steals that allowed McMurray to score.

In the second quarter, Brooke Pralle came off the bench to help the Broncos in a big way, scoring four points. The Cardinals pulled further ahead, holding on to their lead 31-16 as the half came to an end.

The Broncos started the third period with a spark. A pass by Madison Barrus to Meyer under the basket gave the Broncos the first points of the half. Molly Hartwig drove the ball to the basket, getting fouled and making both free throws. The Broncos trailed 31-19. GHV’s tough defense and quick scoring allowed them to go on a 13-point run before Hartwig scored back-to-back baskets. The Broncos were behind 46-27.

In the fourth quarter, Meyer was the lone Bronco to score (a two-point basket and a free throw) as the Cardinals continued to press, increasing their lead to 58-30 at the buzzer.
