The Belmond-Klemme girls’ road success came to an end last week with losses to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura and Forest City.

  The Broncos got off to a slow start against the Cardinals Dec. 20, scoring only two points in the first quarter. GHV raced out to a 34-10 lead at halftime.

  The girls outscored the home team 12-11 after the break, but could not overcome the lead built by the Cardinals. B-K lost 61-31.

  The girls lost another conference game to close out the 2021 portion of their schedule.

  The Forest City Indians led 16-12 after the first period, and effectively shut down the Bronco scoring in the second quarter. The Broncos trailed 18-16 at the half.

  A flurry of baskets helped B-K outscore FC in the third, 12-10, but the Broncos could not dig out of the hole from the first half. The girls lost 50-37.

   The girls have a 3-4 record in the Top of Iowa Conference, and are 5-4 overall. They are in sixth place (out of nine teams) in the TIC - West.
