The Belmond-Klemme cross country season ended on a cold, wet, and windy day at the state-qualifying meet in Eagle Grove Oct. 22.

“The kids fought hard to have good races,” Coach Ethan Albertson said. “I’m so proud of the effort they put into this 5K, and hope we can build on these experiences and continue to improve. I hope the seniors will continue to run and race and enjoy this life-long activity.”

Abby Bates had the best placement of any Bronco girl. She ran a 22:36.83 and finished in 19th place. Her time was also a lifetime best for the senior.

Shea Sopher’s time of 24:06.25 put her in 43rd place, while Valeria Torres ran a 27:51.25 and finished 76th.

Isaac Swenson paced the Bronco boys with his time of 18:40.85. The sophomore placed 22nd.

Cooper Sifert ran the 5K in 20:57.80 and placed 80th. Bradan Gabrielson was timed in 21:19.83 for 84th place, and Cohen Sifert’s time of 25:39.24 put him in 94th.
