Belmond-Klemme’s corona-virus shortened regular season ended on an unhappy note with a 44-7 road loss to South Central Calhoun.

The Broncos only score came with just over four minutes left in the first quarter. After an incomplete pass, Tate Sander carried the ball on five consecutive plays to take his team from their own 40-yard line to the endzone. The junior’s first two carries went for 20 and 29 yards, respectively. The Broncos led 7-6 after Edui Gonzalez’s successful point-after kick.

However, it was the Titans scored again soon after the second quarter started, and the eighth-ranked team in Class 1A never looked back. The Titans led 24-7 at halftime, and scored again on the first possession of the third quarter.

The Broncos’ best chance to close the gap came on their first drive of the half. Rushing by Sander and Jordan Meyer and a key fourth down pass took B-K to the SCC two-yard line, but the Broncos turned the ball over on downs.
