The winning streak for the Belmond-Klemme girls basketball team stretched to three games Dec. 7 with a runaway victory in the first home game of the season. The Broncos defeated Eagle Grove, 49-17.

Ten turnovers by the visiting team kept the Eagles from scoring until nearly halfway into the first period. The Broncos were able to capitalize on the mistakes and led 18-7 after the first quarter.

B-K scored 20 points in the second period, the most in an eight-minute stretch so far this season. A two-point basket just as the buzzer sounded pushed the score to 33-11 at the break.

While the Broncos could not keep up the scoring blitz, the defense did shut down EG. The Broncos scored 16 points in the second half, and held the Eagles to only six points.

Two freshmen led the offensive attack – Adasyn Lamb had 14 points while Quinn Gabrielson scored 13, including two three-pointers. Jennah Meyer had nine points and Molly Hartwig had eight, including a three-pointer. The scoring was rounded out Shaylee Aguilera and Choloe Hobscheidt with two points each and Allison Barrus with a free throw.

Molly Hartwig grabbed 11 rebounds; the Broncos as a team had 14 offensive rebounds and 25 on the defense. The girls also snagged 28 steals.
