The Broncos traveled to the county rival Clarion-Goldfield-Dows June 4.
The girls once again put up runs in the first inning as Addison McMurray led off with a single followed by a sacrifice fly from Madison Barrus that scored McMurray. Allie Barrus took one for herself with the first homerun of her career, launching the ball over the left field fence. The Cowgirls tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the second. B-K pushed another run across the plate as Brynn Heideman reached first on an error. She scored on a single by Molly Hartwig. C-G-D answered back keeping the score tied. The Cowgirls claimed the lead in the fifth, 5-3, before the Broncos came back with vengeance. Singles by Ashlynn Willms, Hartwig, and Jennah Meyer loaded the bases. McMurray hit a single that scored the first Bronco. Madi Barrus followed with a single that batted in two runs, followed by Haley Beminio’s triple that pushed the score to 9-5. The Broncos added three more runs by McMurray, Madi Barrus and Beminio, thanks to a double by Taylor Grissom.
B-K took the county championship, 12-5.
