The 4th grade girls basketball team won second place in the Clarion Basketball Tournament. Members of the team are Hailey Barrus, Ashley Lane, Hannah Branstad, Addie Usher, Natalee Dippel, Jackee Meyer, MaKayla Noah, Mallory Sopher, Sydney Redding and Katelyn Spitler. Coaches are Melanie Sopher, Jodi Barrus, Kay Trampel and Mike Branstad.


  Kylee Burt, shown waiting for the ball, scored 17 points in B-K’s tough loss at North Iowa, 39-38. She came back with 11 points in the Bronco’s 35-33 win over Osage Saturday night in Belmond.

  The Belmond-Klemme Broncos wrapped up conference play with a split of games played last week. The boys’ results left them with a final 10-4 league record and a current overall record of 14-4.


  Shirley Lobdell took the singles title in the Women’s City Bowling Tournament last week. She had a 533 scratch game and carried an 84 pin handicap for a total of 617.


 Belmond Bronco basketeers who will be representing BHS in a bid for sectional cage honors are Bob Lerdal, Lynn Jenison, Cecil Eccles, Mike Long, Dennis Pastour, Roger Ginapp, Dave Suntken, Mark Mason, Dean Pals, Gaylen Lathrop and Ronald Thompson.
