On Friday, June 28, 2019 the Lord sent his angels down to recall his good and faithful servant Richard John Lowenberg after 88 years of life.
Services were held July 16 at St. Pius V Church in Buena Park, CA. Burial was at at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress.
Richard was born June 7, 1931 to Julia and Justin Lowenberg. He grew up in Belmond, graduating from high school in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955, after which he moved to California with not only the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, but the love of his life, Muriel Westerberg.
Together in Anaheim Richard and his new wife Muriel built their family. Richard worked for Klasky Products for 19 years and for The Press Telegram newspaper for 22 years until his retirement at age 65.
Their daughter Ronda became a neonatal nurse, while their son Randy returned to the family origins in Iowa to study agriculture and now works in property management.
In his twilight years Richard enjoyed tending to his yard, attending Mass, and enjoying coffee at his local donut shop. He was never more than a “Sugar” away from his daughter and granddaughter.
He is survived by his beloved wife Muriel; brother Raymond Lowenberg of Belmond; daughter Ronda; son Randy; and granddaughters Miranda, Susan and Sarah.
