Patricia Ann Abele, 73, Klemme, most recently of Belmond, died Sept. 30, 2022. Visitation will be Oct. 4 from 5-7 PM at Andrews Funeral Home in Belmond. Services will be Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Belmond United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Patricia Ann Anderson was born in Mason City on March 27, 1949. She grew up in Mason City and graduated from high school there in 1967.

In June 1969 Patricia married Robert Anthony Mary in Mason City. They were blessed with children Angela, Bobbi and Joseph. They were later divorced.

Patricia married John Abele in 1982 at the Klemme United Methodist Church. Patricia and John were active members, and she taught Bible school for many years. Patricia was also involved in the Klemme area through her leadership in the Junior Girl Scout program.

She was employed as a dietary aide at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond for 22 years before health issues forced her to retire.

Patricia’s entire world was her family. Her children and grandchildren were first and foremost in all that she did. She cherished every moment in their presence and relished every opportunity to attend any activity they were involved in. She was very proud of all her kids’ and grandkids’ accomplishments, regardless of how big or small. During her declining health, if she could not attend an event, she watched virtually. She loved family gatherings and especially looked forward to Christmas where there was a set routine she orchestrated.

Patricia always had a plan. She loved to shop and go out to eat at Red Lobster and Carlos O’Kelly’s. She loved getting pedicures and manicures with her family and going to the movies as often as she could.

Patricia loved to watch her favorite TV soaps, including General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. She didn’t travel very much, but a trip with John to Las Vegas brought with it the bonus of meeting Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise while they were filming the movie “Rain Man.”

Those who had the honor of knowing Patricia will reflect fondly on what made her who she was: a “city girl” who enjoyed the serenity of farm life and raising and caring for her family; a lady with a strong, independent side with a great sense of humor and wit. Her strong will carried her proudly through life, even during her cancer battle that lasted many years. She fought courageously to her very last breath.

She was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Wallace; sister Priscilla Wallace; and niece Heather Siesseger.

Those grateful in sharing in her life include her husband John Abele; children Angela (Shawn) O’Donnell of Thornton, Bobbi (Kevin) Ring of Belmond, and Joseph Mary of Garner; her grandchildren Hunter O’Donnell, Alex Mary, Cody O’Donnell, Zander Mary, Justin O’Donnell, Emily Ring, Amelia Mary, Tyler Ring and Thomas Mary; sister Margaret Bagur; nephew Mike (Melanie) Bagur; great-nephew Cashius Bagur; and great-nieces Tana Bakken and Alexis Beaver, all of Mason City.
