Neva Davids, 94, died May 17, 2019 in San Diego, CA. She was laid to rest at Cypress View Mausoleum in San Diego. A celebration of life was held in San Diego on May 24 and in Belmond on July 6.

Neva was born to William F. and Laura Verdillia (Kienenberger) Eimbrink in a farmhouse southwest of Goodell. She attended grade school near Hickory Grove and graduated from Goodell High School in 1942. Then she helped on the family farm and became a telephone operator.

In 1950 Neva married John Davids in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They had daughters Wanda, Wilma and Laura. In 1970, due to John’s failing health, they sold the farm and moved to Belmond. In 1974 they moved to San Diego with Laura. They both loved the sunshine, so this was good for them. Wanda remained in Belmond, and Wilma was attending nursing school in Des Moines.

John and Neva were active in their churches, both in Iowa and California. They did a lot of volunteer work: driving for friends and neighbors, doing house and yard work, etc. Neva enjoyed gardening, playing Scrabble and Rummikub, and reading. They also visited 49 of the 50 states. Almost every year they would travel from San Diego to Belmond to visit. Neva loved her family more than anything. It was important to her to stay in touch with friends and family, including her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband John; grand-daughter Kenda Fletcher; and sister Zelda Schreur.

Neva is survived by daughters Wanda Basener (Lawrence) of Belmond, Wilma Fletcher Stewart (Mike) of Jamul, CA, and Laura Vest (Charles) of San Diego; sister-in-law Della Davids of Kanawha; grandchildren Chris Basener, Clint Basener (Amy-Alexis Hurlburt), Cherie Basener, Nichol Smith (Prenshawn), John Michael Fletcher, David Fletcher (Mistique), Kati Davids, Myesha Tegen (Ryan), Desmond Vest and Terrell Vest; and 16 great-grandchildren.
