  Marjorie D. Halfpop, 86, Belmond, died Sept. 29, 2020 at the Kanawha Community Home. A graveside service was held Oct. 5 at the Belmond Cemetery.

  Marjorie Delores, daughter of Oscar and Anna (Ganseveld) Olson, was born Sept. 3, 1934 at home in Britt. She grew up and attended school in Britt.

  Marjorie married Lloyd Halfpop at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on Jan. 5, 1951. The couple moved to the Kanawha area and started working on the family farm together. She enjoyed driving the tractors, hauling wagons, and caring for the animals. She had a very large garden and canned vegetables.

  Marjorie was employed by North Iowa Woods until the business closed. She then began working at the Kanawha Community Home where she retired after 25 years. She moved to town after the passing of her husband.

  During retirement, Marjorie kept busy by keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood, enjoying Western movies, creating beautiful quilts, and crocheting baby blankets and afghans.

  Marjorie is remembered as a kind, gentle lady with red rosy cheeks and big heart, working hard from before sunup to long after sundown and never complaining. She is remembered for her cooking and baking. She always offered cookies when you came in the door.

  She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd; son Larry; daughter Linda Bruggeman; sisters Bonnie Olson, Betty Lowe and Marcella Krambeer; brothers Jim, Kenneth, Merrill and Robert; sister-in-law Frieda Olson; and brothers-in-law JC Lowe, George Krambeer and Kenneth Schujter.

  Marjorie is survived by daughter Marlene (David) Black of Belmond and their children Amanda Minor and son Bray-den, and Cody (Val) Minor; son Chris (Tara) Black and children Blake and Greyson; son Davey (Rachel Gettman) Black and children London, Trinity and Greyson; Larry’s children Jason (Denise) Halfpop and children Tristan, Jayden and Grant; Linda’s children Stacy Wellington, Missy Bruggeman, Chrissy (Scott) Jones and children Danielle, Faith and Gunner, and Patty Bruggeman (Rickey Etter); son Allen (Rhonda) Halfpop of Mason City, their children Allison (Josh) Feldman and daughter Ashlyn, Tyler (Jennifer) Halfpop and children Shepherd and Iris; sister Arlene Schujter; and sisters-in-law Charlotte Olson, Elaine Olson and Shirley Olson.
