Elaine Ann, the daughter of Edward and Annie Lewis, was born Dec. 22, 1929 at Clarion, where she grew up. She graduated from Clarion High School.
Elaine married Raymond Cline on Jan. 15, 1951 at Garner. They were blessed with children Jean and Robert. Elaine and Ray farmed in the Goodell area for many years and raised their children. Elaine enjoyed working alongside Ray on the farm.
Elaine was an active member of the Goodell United Methodist Church for many years before transferring to the Belmond United Methodist Church. A favorite retirement pastime for the couple was traveling to Huddle’s Resort near Whipholt, MN from May until October each year.
Ray died 1993, and Elaine continued to live in Goodell until moving to Belmond in 2004. She looked forward to taking bus trips to various destinations and was an avid reader, enjoying almost anything she could put her hands on. Even during her time at the Rehabilitation Center, Elaine always had a stack of books to read. She often would donate her books to the public library and to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. Elaine enjoyed visits from friends and family, along with many of the activities at the Rehabilitation Center.
She died peacefully in her sleep.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Raymond and brother Jerry Lewis (2003).
Survivors include her daughter Jean (Terry) Gray of Peoria, AZ, son Bob (Patricia) Cline of Rochester, MN; sister Carol (Dale) Feller of Belmond; and grandsons Brian and Eric Gray of Peoria, AZ, Edward (Emily) Cline of Bloomington, MN, and Christopher (Sarah) Cline of Menlo Park, CA.
