Dora Dalli Hollis was born to Manuel and Emilia Hollis Dalli on April 8, 1923 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. She graduated from Universidad La Autonoma with degrees in biology and pharmacy. During that same period she trained in voice performance. She enjoyed singing solos at concerts, recitals, and at special events such as the Billy Graham Crusade in Puerto Rico.
One of Dora’s greatest joys was learning. She earned a degree in Bible from Venard College, a Master of Divinity from Asbury Seminary, and a Master of Education from Universidad de Puerto Rico. She established a Head Start program in the Iglesia Metodista Obispo Corson. After she became a U.S. citizen, she received her pastor certificate and served churches in Iowa, including Goodell. During retirement, she and Don helped establish Mission Nueva Vida in Corwith.
Don and Dora met and were married during their seminary studies. Following graduation they served in Stanwood. Two of their children were born in Iowa during this time. Once assigned to Puerto Rico, they started their church, served 12 years, and raised their four children, three of whom went on to serve in ministry.
Dora and Don were unique in that they were bilingual, cross cultural pastors. They were the first clergy couple in the Iowa Methodist Conference.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters; a brother; daughter Cindy Maynard; and grandson Joshua Dadisman
Dora is survived by her daughter Margaret (Dennis) Guth; son-in-law Byron Maynard; daughter Susan (Jeff) Dadisman; son Dan (Regina) Campbell; grandchildren Eric (Ashley) Guth, Natalie (Jeremy) Gray, Peter Guth, Lilly Guth, Anna (Andy) Maygaard, Brett Maynard, Ryan Maynard, Becca Maynard, Christopher (Adrienne) Dadisman, Andrew (Theresa) Dadisman, Karissa (Bryan) Beck, Danielle Dadisman, Stephen Campbell, and Davey Campbell; and 12 great- grandchildren.
