Belmond-Klemme students will start school Monday, Aug. 24, according to the calendar approved by the school board.

Last week, Superintendent Dan Frazer said it would not be necessary to start classes earlier in August since B-K has been one of only six school districts in Iowa holding required learning online during the Covid-19 crisis this spring

The calendar underwent several drafts, and the most recent draft cut down on the time off at the end of 2020. “After coming back from a full two weeks off at Christmas, most teachers decided that break was too long,” Superintendent Dan Frazier told the school board several weeks ago. Attending class for two days during the week of Christmas also allowed for days off in the second semester.
