The Belmond-Klemme school board approved two-year contracts for the principals June 20.
Greg Fisher and Mark Young will receive 2 percent increases each year. That is the same increase as teachers received, while support staff wages increased 2.3 percent.
Fisher will receive an additional $1,900 (based on his current salary of $97,125) and Young will receive $1,700 (based on his current salary of $84,000). A long-term disability insurance policy was added to each contract at a cost of $150.
The board also approved reducing the number of first grade sections from three to two. There will be 21 students in each room.
The board also agreed to rescind the hiring of Andrew Schaffer as a high school science teacher.
Two new teachers were hired: Madeline Allen as high school vocal teacher, and Mari Henrichs as a fourth grade teacher.
In addition, Shannon Wadsley and Julie Ysker were hired as co-sponsors of the prom, and Marilyn Janssen will be the student council sponsor.
Michael Jenison and Colby Schumann were hired as co-coaches of junior high baseball.
The resignations of Amanda Walter, first grade teacher, and Christina Nelson, wrestling cheerleader coach, were accepted.
The following TLC (Teacher Leadership and Compensation) positions were approved, as well:
Christine Schultz and Leigh Jass as instructional coaches ($8,000 per year);
Tiffany Ahrens, Lori Green, Missy Krieps, Kendra Haugen, Felicia Maas, Marne Markwardt and Nicole Nelson as teacher leaders in Jacobson ($2,500 per year);
Tammy Swenka, Nicole Bock, Justin Meyer, Wendy Meints and Julie Ysker as teacher leaders in the junior/senior high ($2,500 per year).
