Silo award

  The Jenison Meacham Memorial Arts Center and Farm and the Belmond Historical Society received the Outstanding Preservation in Agriculture Award Nov. 8 in Waterloo from the Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area.

  Awards are presented each year to individuals and organizations whose contributions demonstrate excellence in preserving and telling America’s agricultural story, both past and present. The Golden Silo Award is given for extraordinary effort in preserving the icons of American agriculture.

  Dave Nelson (center) accepted the honor on behalf of the arts center/farm and the historical society from Cara Miller, SSNHA executive director, and Glen Keppy, chairman of the SSNHA board of trustees.
