There are only two days left for Belmond-Klemme Scholarship Foundation II to meet its matching goal from the Richard Jacobson Foundation. As of Dec. 27, the goal is $8,223 short.

“For six years the Jacobson Foundation has made a challenge,” said BKSF Treasurer Dale Arends. “So far, we have always met the goal and have received a total of $177,071 from the Jacobson Foundation.

“This year, the challenge is $33,515, but we have only raised about $25,000,” Arends continued. “We only have until Saturday to meet that goal. But it can be done. We are able to accept checks that are dated by Dec. 31, 2022, even though we may not receive them in the mail on Jan. 3 or later.”

“We very much apprecate the ongoing support of the Jacobson Foundation,” said BKSF II President Lewis Schaal. “We don’t want to let them down by missing our goal.”

Each May, the Belmond-Klemme Scholarship Foundation announces scholar- ship awards that are available to every graduating senior who continues their education. The first awards in 1990 were $60, and they have increased to $3,000 each in 2002.

Donations to BKSF II may be sent directly to Arends at 3081 190th Street, Belmond, or to BKSF II, PO Box 2, Belmond, 50421.
