February: A series of snowstorms left roads closed and semi trucks stranded. March: New power lines were installed along Highway 69; work will continue in 2020. March: All the snow that fell melted too quickly, leading to flooding across Iowa. April: High winds damaged trees and blew over this semi truck. May: New veterans’ crosses were installed along the hiking and biking trail in time for Memorial Day. June: Eaton Corp. announced it would be closing its plant in Belmond at the end of 2020. July: Construction of a new windfarm began in the Alexander area. August: Many improvements were made at the high school stadium and in the high school hallways. September: Comm 1 of Kanawha began the first steps to install a fiber optic communications system in Belmond. September: The B-K Gridiron Club celebrated its 80th anniversary. October: The estate of Marj Gruis donated $100,000 to the fire department and $50,000 to the hospital.
