The two bridges over the Iowa River just north of Belmond on Highway 69 were supposed to be finished by Thanksgiving. But you can see in this photo of the north bridge taken Nov. 19 that there is a lot of work remaining. Pavement has been laid from both the north and south ends of the project, but the bridges are nowhere near complete.
Meanwhile, work on Third Street NE is coming along well and should be finished very soon. The street will reopen for the winter and then close again next spring while the 500 and 600 blocks are replaced. The final phase of the project is set to be finished by July 4.
