This Community Summer Lunch program for children and youths in Belmond will be in operation three times this summer when the free lunch program is not open at the school.

The first free lunches will be held Thursday and Friday, June 6-7, and Monday and Tuesday, June 10-11. The meals will be provided at Trinity Lutheran Church from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All children ages 1-18 are able to eat free. The charge for adults is $3.50

The Community Summer Lunch program is sponsored by the churches of the area. Trinity Lutheran is providing the meeting space and kitchen. The June meals are being provided by the United Church of Christ; the July meals by St. Francis Xavier; and the August meals by the United Methodist Church. Additional support is coming through a Thrivent Action Team.

The free meal program at Jacobson elementary school is also for children and youths ages 1-18. It will run weekdays from Wednesday, June 12 through Friday June 28, and again from Monday, July 8 through Friday, August 9.

The lunches at Trinity will fill in the weekday gaps of June 6-11, July 1-5 (but not July 4), and August 12-16. School starts Friday, August 23.
