In an effort to clean up dead trees and downed branches in the wooded area at the south end of the Franklin Grove Heritage Trail (the section behind Eaton) area residents may gather free fire wood on Friday and Saturday, July 30 and 31, from 3-7 p.m. only.
If you would like wood for bonfires, firepits, fireplaces or other projects, come and help yourself. Cut down or collect ONLY dead trees and dead branches. Do not cut live trees!
During those hours only, the “no motorized vehicle” policy will be waived from 5th Street SE to Belmond Road. There will be one-way traffic. Enter from 5th Street SE by the water tower and exit on Belmond Road near the cemetery. (Do NOT enter the county-owned section of the trail in “The Grove”.)
