It’s time for Belmond’s annual Doggie Dip at the Luick Memorial Pool. The fun night for canines and their owners will be Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Family-friendly dogs are invited to the seventh annual Doggie Dip for a $5 donation. The schedule is: dogs up to 25 pounds can swim from 5 to 5:45 p.m.; dogs weighing 26-75 pounds take over the pool from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m.; and dogs over 75 pounds can swim from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Tennis balls can be purchased for $1.

All canines must be on a leash when not in the water, and owners are responsible for their dog’s clean-up. All animals must be current on shots (parvo, rabies, distemper) and have a rabies tag at registration. Dogs that don’t play well with others may be asked to leave, and no lifeguards will be on duty.

For the safety of the pets, chemical treatment of the pool will be discontinued prior to the Doggie Dip. Therefore, swimming with your pet is not recommended, and owners swim at their own risk.

This fundraiser is sponsored by the Future Dog Park Committee. If you do not have a dog, you can still come watch as the dogs dive, splash and have fun.     There will also be soft-serve ice cream for sale at the event.
