The number of new Covid-19 cases in Wright County took a big jump during the final week of 2021. Sandy McGrath of public health reported 84 new infections to the board of supervisors Jan. 3.

She stated, “I suspect that (the numbers) will continue to go up.” McGrath emphasized that if people get a positive at-home test result, they should report it to Wright County Public Health, follow up with a test from WCPH, and follow isolation guidelines.

The overall local cases now total 2,981 since early 2020. The county vaccination rate is about 55%, with 54 deaths so far. McGrath implored people to get vaccinations and boosters, reminding that public health offers free vaccinations at the office in Clarion on Tuesday and Thursday.
