“Home of the Free, because of the Brave” is the theme of the 2019 Belmond July 4 celebration. Holiday activities will be spread out over five days.

WEDNESDAY:

St. Olaf Church salad lunch at the Veterans Center.

Kiddie tractor pull at 1 p.m. at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

Spaghetti supper from 5-7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church.

Kiddie parade will start at 5 p.m. at the Belmond hospital south parking lot.

5:15 p.m. Kids carnival at Swimming Pool Park until 6:30 p.m.

7:30 p.m. Rubber Duck Race at swimming pool (note time change).

New Mexicos band will play at downtown adult street dance at 9 p.m.

THURSDAY

July 4 parade will start at 10:30 a.m.

Noon: pork chop dinner at the fire station.

Afternoon activities will be held in Swimming Pool Park.

--3 on 3 basketball tournament will be at 1 p.m.

--Co-ed volleyball tournament sign-up will begin at 1 p.m. 

--The aquatic center will be open from 1-5 p.m.

--Inflatables for kids from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

--Bingo and a cake walk will start at 2 p.m. 

United Methodist Church pie and ice cream 2-4 p.m. at church.

Beef burger and brats served at Catholic Church from 5-7 p.m.

Football stadium opens at 6:30 p.m. Jive for Five will play music from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Raffle tickets will be sold, and over $3,000 in raffle prizes will be drawn. Admission $4 for adults and $2 for persons under age 18.

Fireworks at 10 p.m.

FRIDAY

Firecracker Classic 5K run will begin at 7 p.m. at the empty lot across from the Fitness Center downtown. 

Big Nacho Karaoke at the Casa Chameleon.

SATURDAY

Belmond Summer Market in City Park at 9 a.m.

Home Run Derby for kids at 11 a.m. at City Ball Field.

Kickball Tournament at 1 p.m. Adult/Youth/Co-ed at City Ball Field.

Bill Riley State Fair Talent Search at 2 p.m. at Luick Auditorium.

SUNDAY

Omelet brunch at Belmond Fire Department 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Community Church Service in City Park at 9:30 a.m.  In case of rain, at Trinity Lutheran. 

Artist reception and photography display by Dave Swenson at  Jenison-Meacham Art Center from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
